19th Century Masterfile was launched in 1999 as "Poole's Plus," but has now grown to include over seventy (70) seminal as well as lesser known contemporary indexes to English-language publishing prior to 1930. Additional content information is available; Access is by genre:

  • I: Multi-title Periodical Indexes (e.g., Poole's, Legal, Religion, Scientific Papers, etc.)
  • II: Book Indexes
  • III: Newspaper Indexes
  • IV: Complete Individual Periodical Indexes (e.g., Harper's, Atlantic Monthly,etc.)
  • V: US Patents; Hansard's; US and UK Historical Government Documents

19th Century Masterfile is populated with full text links, permitting patrons to explore the materials via the finest indexes and then link to all manner of full text editions in public as well as commercial information sites. These include JSTOR, American Periodical Series, Hein Online, Accessible Archives and additional public sites.
